Sam Mavor

Sam is a composer, orchestrator, and arranger known for creating evocative, immersive musical scores that elevate storytelling across film and visual media. With a deep passion for music and a finely tuned understanding of cinematic narrative, Sam has developed a body of work that resonates with audiences and enhances every project he undertakes.

From a young age, Sam showed a natural affinity for music, later refining his craft through formal training in composition and orchestration at the University of Hull. This strong classical foundation underpins his versatility, enabling him to move seamlessly between genres—whether crafting sweeping orchestral landscapes or more experimental, contemporary textures.

Collaboration lies at the heart of Sam’s creative process. He works closely with directors, producers, and creative teams to shape musical worlds that support and illuminate their vision. His portfolio spans feature films, documentaries, television pieces, and a range of media projects, each marked by a commitment to emotional depth, clarity of storytelling, and musical authenticity.

A recent milestone in Sam’s career was being selected as one of the winners of OnScore’s inaugural scoring competition, inspired by the world of Brave. Entrants were challenged to score an unscored scene using only the provided dialogue and sound effects, with the top submissions personally reviewed by Academy Award–nominated composer Patrick Doyle. Having his work recognised by a composer of Doyle’s stature was a significant honour and a meaningful affirmation of Sam’s musical voice and dedication to narrative scoring. Above all, Sam is driven by a profound love of storytelling and a commitment to creating music that leaves a lasting emotional impact. His work continues to enrich narratives, deepen cinematic experiences, and push creative boundaries—establishing him as a sought-after voice in contemporary film music.
